Adaptive Modules Named as New VAR Sales Channel for Telit Mobile
Adaptive Modules to resell Telit IoT specialized SIMs as well the portfolio of value-added services
Telit, a global enabler of the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced that Adaptive Modules will be reselling Telit Mobile connectivity and value-added services under their own brand. The agreement also includes Telit deviceWISE, which is an IoT Application Enablement Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering. With the move, Adaptive becomes a value added reseller (VAR) expanding the company?s current role of distributor of Telit modules.
Value-added services to be provided by Adaptive include M2M/IoT deployment management and troubleshooting offerings like Aware, Intelligence and Automation; connectivity solutions with enhanced performance and steering capabilities by the end customer; provisioning, configuration and management of mobile connectivity; automatic transfer of data between devices and the Cloud; and the ability to collect, and control the flow of bi-directional data transfers between devices and the Cloud.
Telit is evaluating reapplication of this model for other distributors in Europe. Adaptive was selected as the first application case to reposition and move up the value chain most importantly because of its focus on wireless, managing solutions for a variety of (end) user types. For example, in the UK, Adaptive designed a custom embedded computing IoT solution to monitor the consumables and supplies for vending machines that are well-known high street brand located in garage forecourts, informing the garage and the coffee company if there is a degradation in serviceability, cups sold, cleaning trends and other data to maintain the service to its customers.

Sir Richard Needham Joins Adaptive Modules' Board of Directors

Adaptive Modules wins Telit distribution rights
Brighton based M2M specialists Adaptive Modules have been awarded a distribution contract for the full line of Telit modules and terminals. The move follows the acquisition of Motorolas M2M division by Telit and is recognition of the focus and commitment shown by Adaptive Modules over the past 3 years in becoming the UK's largest Motorola M2M distributor.
The appointment will provide Adaptive Modules with more than 40 new lines of products to capture the many opportunities in the rapidly growing M2M market a growth rate of more than 20% per annum according to industry analysts Beecham Research.
Products include GPRS, UMTS, GPS and Zigbee modules as well as short range RF modules in the 868MHz and 433MHz bands. Many of Telit?s core modules are integrated into enclosures to provide a range of cost-effective and fully certified terminal products. Specialist lines such as ATEX approved modules, combination cellular and GPS modules and gateway products capable of seamlessly integrating short range RF and cellular links add to the appeal of the Telit product set.
Andrew Aslett, Sales Director at Adaptive Modules made the following observations about the appointment:
To be associated with a manufacturer that achieved 48% organic growth in 2010 is an honour and a massive opportunity for our business. We are fully aware of what an awesome prospect they are in the M2M market having faced them as a competitor over the last few years. Company announces deal with leading coffee brand
Machine-to-Machine and Digital Signage specialists Amscreen have announced a new contract win with Coffee Nation, the self-service coffee brand. The deal will see the company?s M2M (Machine-to-Machine), wireless technology fitted to the firm?s 800 self-service units nationwide.
Amscreen M2M, an operating division within Amscreen, developed the technology that will see the units utilise Amscreen?s patented µWEAVE M2M platform, the technology that allows machines to ?talk? and send/collect data from one another via mobile networks and the internet. The system will enable Coffee Nation to monitor its machines, which are installed in office, travel and retail environments nationwide. Due to the business model of the firm, which sees Coffee Nation own the machines but with retailers responsible for the stocking and cleaning of the units, the firm required a solution that monitored the machines in a timely, efficient and non-intrusive manner.
The µWEAVE telemetry system will scrutinise both stock and cleaning levels of the machines as well as sales data so that retailers can be invoiced accurately. The data will be fedback to Coffee Nation?s central management system enabling the firm to make instant decisions regarding maintenance, inventory and systems management.
The Coffee Nation deal comes at a busy time for Amscreen, with the firm having recently announced a range of M2M and Digital Signage wins with a range of clients including BP, Guardian newspapers and Powerleague.

June 2008 - ZigBit 900 Launch
MeshNetics, a leading provider of ZigBee modules and embedded software for OEMs and system integrators, today at the Sensors Expo show in Rosemont, Illinois, announced its launch of the ZigBit 900, the worlds' first RF module for sub-1 GHz band that uses the ZigBee PRO Feature Set. The new IEEE 802.15.4-2006 module is designed to operate in the ISM bands 915 MHz in the US and 868 MHz in Europe.
The ultra-compact ZigBit 900 module features an exceptional sensitivity of -110 dBm and output power of 11 dBm that result in the line-of-sight range of up to 6,000m (over 3.7 miles). The power consumption stays at a remarkably low level: less than 6 µA in sleep mode, 11 mA in receive mode, and 26 mA in transmit mode, which translates into many years of battery life. The ZigBit 900 operates in the European ISM band from 863 to 870 MHz and in the North American ISM band from 902 to 928 MHz. The ZigBit 900 offers regional alternatives to the global 2.4 GHz band where the channel characteristics of the lower frequencies can result in performance advantages in certain environments.
